How do you go about deciding what to write when undertaking a writing project?

In this assignment, students will compose a brief essay in which they discuss their relationships with writing. The nature of this essay is reflection (focusing
upon personal experiences and feelings), so writing in first-person point of view (I, me, my, etc.) is required. Students will also write in first-person for the
narrative essay but we will switch to objective, third-person point of view for our persuasive essay. Remember, however, that second-person point of view
(vou) is never appropriate in academic writing.
This list shares the topics from which students must choose in preparation for the Foundation essay:
• Do you consider yourself a strong writer? If yes, explain strengths. If no, explain weaknesses.
• Do you enjoy writing? If yes, why. If no, why not?
How do you go about deciding what to write when undertaking a writing project?
How do you go about deciding how to organize your writing?
• How do you know when you’re finished, when you’ve done the best you can do as a writer?
The details of this assignment (length requirements, etc.) will be provided in the weeks to come but, for now, the above overview will suffice so that we may
move on to the details of essay writing.
