challenge yourself to aim for a coherent essay that is focused around a
central, controlling thesis. (Later in the course, this will be a requirement.) you can choose to explore more than one idea, using paragraphs to organize your
different thoughts.
Choose ideas that interest you. What do you notice? What do you like? What do you wonder?
Make sure your paragraphs are clear, focused, and organized – remember, one idea per
paragraph, with supporting evidence clearly explained.
