Assignment Requirements
Your paper should…
• Be at 5-7 pages in length
– The Works Cited Page does not count as a page
– If your paper is five pages, it must be five full pages
– Shorter papers will be penalized!
• Have 1-inch margins
• Be double-spaced
• Use Size-12 Garamond font
• Follow MLA rules for formatting and citation!
• Have at least four secondary sources
– A secondary source is a scholarly source
-A scholarly source is either (1) an article published in a peer-reviewed journal or
(2) a book published by an academically respected and trustworthy press.
– Papers without the required number of scholarly sources will be penalized
• Have at least one primary source (not counting the literary work you are analyzing)
– A primary source is written by someone who personally observed the events you
are analyzing
– Papers that do not have a primary source will be penalized!
• Include your name, my title/name, the class number, and the assignment due date in the
top left-hand corner of the first page
• Include a centered title/subtitle below this information�
• Include your last name/page number in the top right-hand corner of each page
