ENG 112/Literature Review
The Literature Review will develop and demonstrate your ability to research, evaluate, and synthesize. A literature review gives an overview of the research available on a topic. It can help you establish your position on a topic and familiarize you with the research available on your topic.
For this assignment, you will locate five articles from the library’s databases. Your review will be 2-3 pages and will follow this structure:
Introduction/Rationale
State the topic for this review. If there is a guiding question or questions (something you hope to answer in your proposal), state those. You can also include your personal interest in the general topic. You should have a thesis that states the general trends you discovered from your research.
Findings (This is the body/main section of your review where you discuss the sources you found)
Sort the articles appropriately (not by source but by idea; consider doing a compare and contrast and/or connecting the articles you’ve found in a meaningful way.).
Explain the info provided in your sources.
Summary/Conclusion
Briefly summarize your findings.
Explain what you learned about the topic.
Explain how your findings will help you in your proposal.
References
Using APA style, include a list of the sources you used. This is a separate sheet and is not part of your 2-3 pages.
Include an APA title page. Use the headings above to structure your review. No abstract is needed.
