For your fourth essay, you will develop an extended visual analysis of any text that interests you. The text can be a print or web advertisement (even a video ad), a movie trailer or poster, a webpage, a cartoon, a pamphlet or flyer, an album or book cover, a photograph, a painting–any visual media that can be “read.” This text can be found on the Web, on TV, on your walls, or even in a print publication. You might wish to pick two corresponding visual texts to analyze.
NOTE: A visual analysis asks you to examine a text closely to understand its messages, interpret its meanings, and determine the author’s techniques. For this assignment, you will explore several of a visual text’s features and arrive at a working (or soft) thesis of analytical description or even analytical judgment, which is a statement about the text’s visual methods and effectiveness.

Your formatting requirements for this essay: Essay should be 1250 – 1500 words or so. This assignment should be typed, double spaced, page numbered, titled, and submitted as a Word or a PDF file. Follow all MLA style guidelines and include a Works Cited page with two sources listed (the text you analyze and at least one outside source that helps you analyze your chosen text).
NOTE: You may include TWO texts to analyze together if that helps you meet page length requirements.
