Your fourth speaking assignment will be a persuasive speech using Monroe’s Motivated Sequence.
You will be persuading your audience to physically do something. It is recommended that you choose a specific behavior for this speech (because such topics will fit into the motivated sequence nicely). This speech must include the following:
Three (3) documented sources (books, magazines, newspaper articles, WWW pages, etc.) These sources cannot be all of the same kind, but rather a variety of sources. Only ONE may be a web site (though you are allowed to find your other sources electronically).
YOU are not a source for yourself.
This MUST be listed under the Supporting Materials section of your outline in MLA format.
Remember to verbally cite your source as you speak, too. (“According to Margaret Renkl’s New York Times editorial, ‘The Cicadas Are Coming, It’s Not an Invasion. It’s a Miracle.’ Periodic cicadas emerge in cycles — every 13 years or every 17 — and they are generally smaller than their annual cousins.”) Verbal citation and attributions can be found in Chapter 10 of your book.
One (1) presentation aid.
List this under the Supporting Materials section of your outline.
Attach and submit copies of any electronic presentation aids (including PowerPoints) used along with your outline for this assignment.
Introduction, Body, and Conclusion sections to structure your message
Monroe’s Motivated Sequence
The five parts MUST be indicated within your outline. They may be part of the outline or written in its margins.
The five parts are in addition to your outline, they do not replace already existing parts.
An Outlne that is fully developed and properly formatted
Please use the attached outline template as a guide for proper format. It is recommended that you save your own copy of the document and build your outline directly in that file.
Your outline should not be a script of your speech – but it should include all the content you plan to address and all the analysis and elaboration you wish to say about said content. Additionally, this outline must be a full-sentence outline. (There are example outlines available for you to look at in Outlining folder in the Week Two Assignments section here on Blackboard.)
Include all parts of the outline – including each section of the template and all of their listed components. Speech on why kids shouldnt text or drive with facts supporting your reasons will include a rogh draft outline must be included uded
Be sure to include language you intend to use in your speech as you present, not generalizations of ideas
