The movie, Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse, is an animated coming-of-age movie about how a teen grows up and assumes his role as the new Spiderman in his world. Consider the film’s rhetorical situation and how the movie tells its story. What are the movie’s specific features or elements that help tell the story and the movie’s central themes? Who are the characters, and how do audiences know about their personalities? In other words, how are they drawn, depicted, and represented (consider the character’s dialogue and behavior)? How does the use of color help viewers to understand the movie’s overall themes and characters? How is music used in the movie to tell the story or understand the plot or the characters in the movie? What are other rhetorical features that help tell the story?
For this rhetorical analysis write a unified and coherent short essay (a minimum of 2.5 pages) that analyzes one scene from the movie, using two rhetorical features that you choose. Discuss the significance of the scene and how the two rhetorical features you chose impact the scene and help tell the story.
Make sure your Google Doc uses MLA Style 9th edition (which includes assignment headers and a title). When writing, make sure you introduce the scene and summarize the pertinent parts, framing the parameters of your discussion, so your audience understands your essay’s framework. Write focused paragraphs with clear topic sentences. Points will be given for essays that demonstrate the following: a) addresses the minimum page requirements b) thoughtful and developed ideas c) unity, coherence, and focused paragraphs d) appropriate evidence use, and e) sentence correctness and clarity.
