Conspiracy theories are rampant in our society. There are more created every day. From the idea that Covid-19 is not real to major tragedies being orchestrated by nefarious groups, we have a culture that seems to thrive on believing in conspiracy theories. That being the case, this will be the topic for your next essay.
You will research one of the following conspiracy theories:
9/11
New World Order
Illuminati
Aliens
Flat Earth
The paper will
demonstrate a clear understanding of the conspiracy theory it addresses – both the actual, historical facts along with the growth/evolution of the conspiracy theory
take a clear position on whether or not the conspiracy theory should be taken seriously
engages successful with multiple perspectives
incorporates source material purposefully, ethically, and seamlessly
uses different rhetorical modes to reinforce your purpose
You will present your findings to fit your argument. You will continue to research throughout the writing process, and you will construct your approach based on your secondary sources. You will build your argument about your topic according to your findings.
The essay should be a minimum of 4 full pages to 5 full pages in length. The page count does not include an MLA formatted Works Cited that includes the sources that relate to the conspiracy theory.
The completed essay should be uploaded as a Microsoft Word, .PDF, or .RTF document.
