For this week’s discussion board post, you are to draft one annotation for one of your most central sources. You will share this annotation and discuss how the given source aligns with other research you’ve been reviewing.
Action Items
Draft an annotation of one of the most central sources to your literature review. Your annotation should be 5-8 sentences, and in it, you should do the following:
Summarize the major components of the source. Your summary may stress specific components to different degrees, depending on the aim of your particular research project.
Evaluate the strengths and limitations of the source. If this source seems like it will be central to your review, what distinguishes it as a piece of quality research? What might be the limitations of the source (e.g., its currency, method, study populations, etc.)?
Reflect on the relevance of the source to your particular project. Why is this an important source for your literature review? What cues might you take from the source in your own research? Will you be following or building upon its method? Will you be answering a call for future research it makes?
Draft a short paragraph that addresses how the central source relates to other literature on your topic. In this paragraph, you should:
Draw connections between this source and at least one other source.
Consider how the aim, method, or findings compare with those of other research.
