Essay Two: Review Essay
EN 101
Draft Requirements
1.
Please review the Features of the Form of a review, on pages 142-143, and the
requirements for completing the Inquiry Project: Writing a Review, on page 155 of your
textbook. Use these resources to help you compose the first draft of your
review and submit it to the group Discussion Board by the end of Week Six so
that your peers can provide you with feedback to help make your essay stronger.
Content
This first draft should be at least 750 words long. Try to meet the requirements for the
final draft as best as you can and submit an essay that you feel is as close to finished
as possible so that the feedback you receive is more likely to be useful. However, do
not be overly concerned with issues related to proofreading and editing at this
point; you will have the opportunity to address these as you revise.
Grade
• Your first draft will not be graded separately, but it will affect the grade you
receive for your final draft. Ten percent (10%) of the grade for your final
draft will be based on what you submitted as your first draft. As long as
you submit a reasonably serious attempt at a first draft that is close to the
minimum length and requirements outlined in the assignment, you will receive
all the points for that 10% of the rubric.
• Late Drafts: If your draft is submitted late, but before 8 a.m. on the
Wednesday (of Week Seven), you will receive a portion of the points available
in the rubric. That portion will be even smaller, however, if what you submit fails
to meet the minimum word count required by a significant amount.
• Final Deadline: No drafts will be accepted after 8 a.m. on Wednesday (of
Week Seven).
2. Final Essay Requirements
Taking into consideration the peer feedback you’ve received about your first draft and
following the advice for revising on pages 169-171 of your textbook, complete and
submit the final draft of your review.
Your final essay should be 750 words long and should follow the guidelines in The
Curious Writer for writing a review in the “Inquiry Project: Writing a Review Essay,” on
page 155. Craft a review essay that has an effective introduction, a body that is rich
with details, and a satisfying conclusion; an essay that makes a convincing and
balanced case based on appropriate criteria and well-supported, relevant reasons for
why you are evaluating the subject of your review as you are.
Submission Guidelines
Compose your essay in a Word document (.doc or .docx). When you have completed
your essay, save the Word document and name the file “Week 7–your name.” Click on
the link/title above to access the assignment page for the “Final Draft of Review”
Please do not cut
and paste your essay into the Write Submission box. If you need help uploading,

2. Place this information in the Upper Left Corner of p. 1:
