In this assignment, you will synthesize some of your learning from the first two weeks of Skill Building Sessions and plan strategies to build an environment of respect and rapport amongst your students by answering the following prompt:
How can I create an environment to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of students?
In response to this question, please include the following:
Classroom Culture Vision: Articulate your vision of what a supportive classroom culture looks like. Please be sure to consider the impact of the teacher’s words, actions, and body language, as well as the student’s words, actions and body language, and how they interact in creating the classroom culture. You may also consider the physical space of the classroom, established norms/values, and how your classroom community will be inclusive to all learners.
Cite specific strategies and resources from SBS Pre-Work (and listed below) you intend to implement in Week 3, July 5 – July 8 in order to build relationships with your students at your respective Teaching Academy.
Please be sure to explain how the strategies connect to your Classroom Culture Vision by explaining how this strategy will impact the academic, social, and emotional growth of students.

Also, please explain how the norms/routines/structures you’ve chosen will be informed by the information you learn about your students through relationship-building.
Since you will be hosted by a Collaborative Coach summer school teacher, you should consider the classroom culture practices that will already be established in their classroom, and how you plan to integrate your Classroom Culture Vision and strategies with your Collaborative Coach’s.
