Please review the academic literature prior to selecting a topic.

Research a topic on an academic subject related to grammar. The topic should address a level NO LOWER than third grade. Subjects NOT covered in the course will not be accepted (e.g., phonics). The topic could be on a specific element of grammar (e.g., how to teach verbs) or a broader teaching strategy that would be applicable to many topics (e.g., the “jigsaw” method). Please remember that you may NOT select a topic that you have used in another English or Education course at BSC. Remember that you are combining your knowledge of grammar AND teaching strategies. Please follow the rubric carefully. This is a major research paper – for example, you cannot just cover the “what” – you have to cover the “why.” It must be based on solid research and demonstrate original thought. This cannot be just a rehash of material we have already covered in the course.
Your paper should reflect current practices, pedagogy, and standards. It should demonstrate a knowledge of current quality research and “best practices” as documented from professional sources.
Please review the academic literature prior to selecting a topic. For example, a “popular” topic such as “using games to teach grammar” is much too broad, and there is little research to support it.
Only 5 may be web sites. (Exception: online journals may be used.)
