For this essay, you are to compose a summary and rhetorical analysis of a text of your choice. You
will analyze the ways in which rhetorical context and rhetorical appeals work together in a text to
create an argument, as well as effectiveness of the argument.
For this assignment, you are to choose an approved outside text and provide a
rhetorical analysis. The first part of the essay should concisely summarize the reading. Then,
drawing on rhetorical concepts discussed in your textbook, compose an analysis that examines the
text’s use of appeals in light of the rhetorical situation the text constructs.
REQUIREMENTS:
MLA Style and Formatting – including in-text citations and a works cited page
4-6 pages – plus a works cited page
Include class vocabulary – rhetorical situation, purpose, audience, context, rhetorical appeals,
style, etc
