The first step involved in the research methods process is the selection of a research topic.

My proposed topic is “How Can Law Enforcement and Governmental Agencies Mitigate the Rise of Cyber Crimes”.
Take the research inventory (See handout) so as to help instructor determine students’ knowledge of research concepts. The first step involved in the Research Methods Process is the selection of a research topic. You can only do this by conducting a preliminary literature review to help you develop your chosen topic. Learn the language (definitions of key terms—See handout on Research Glossary; Once that is done you will commence to start the research project #1 and continue with the sequence. You should have a research topic by the end of the first week and no later than 2 weeks.
(If your research topic has not yet been developed, do so now because Next, you will develop your Research Layout Plan—use of the material/knowledge obtained for the journal articles should be most useful). Submit what you are able to complete–research subject, research topic, research methodology, identify variables (IV & DV). Due at the end of Week 1 or 2.
