Instructions:
You will design an infographic on how to support a specific aspect of social and emotional development.
An infographic uses a combination of text and visuals to represent a body of information in an easily digestible manner.
Your infographic must have a clear purpose. For this assignment, you should aim to provide an overview of a specific focal concept/outcome within social and emotional development (e.g., ethnic identity, emotion regulation, theory of mind, self-esteem, aggression) as it relates to a specific group (e.g., age group or demographic group), and explain evidence-based strategies to support the development of the focal concept/outcome. Your infographic should be prepared to inform a specific audience (e.g., caregiver, teacher, other stakeholder, etc.).
Your infographic should tell a story and include the following:
The introduction must clearly identify your topic and the main goal(s) of what you want readers to take away after studying your infographic. It should be clear who your target audience is. Keep this section brief.
The main section of your infographic must clearly review key definitions, important facts/statistics, developmental trends, theoretical perspectives, key research findings, and/or themes within the research related to your topic. You must include information gathered from at least 5 peer-reviewed empirical sources published within the last 5-8 years (older articles may be used only if there is clear justification). The information you include must have a clear organization – not just a collection of random research findings. You must use a combination of visuals and text. Do NOT directly quote. Paraphrase (i.e., use your own words) and cite.
Finally, the conclusion must address the practical implications of the research you review. Consider what you would like your readers to do with the information you provide (e.g., apply the intervention strategies). You will also provide the full APA citations for the sources you use.
