What do you think that the writer does well within that structure?

1. Point out at least three parts of the essay that you found interesting or especially clear and explain what they are, what page they are on, and what you like about them. Maybe you found the student’s hook to be interesting and compelling – say so and explain what you liked about it! The writer needs to know what you thought stood out in a positive way.
2. Point out at least three parts of the essay (and the pages they are on) that you think could use work. Focus on the ideas – is there an idea in the essay that you’re confused by? Point out the idea and explain as clearly as possible what you don’t understand about it. The writer might take time to explain it in the next draft. Maybe there is an idea that you find interesting, but that doesn’t answer all of your questions about it. You can point it out and suggest more information that the writer might share about it in the final draft.
3. If you would like to, take a look at the academic structure and think about what you know about North American academic cultural preferences. What do you think that the writer does well within that structure? Are there things that the writer might be missing that you would suggest they consider adding or updating for a North American academic audience?
