What is that thing missing?

For this essay, you will engage Moraga and Villanueva’s observations of College and
University practices/performances of multiculturalism and their arguments in relation to
them. You will want to have thorough understanding of both of the arguments’ theses and
main points, the evidence they supply to that support their claims, and their potential
solutions to the problem they articulate. You will assume that your reader has not read
these texts before, so you will need to use your skills at brief summary and paraphrase to
help them along.
For this kind of essay, you will want your intro to make clear the topic of consideration,
potentially signal the main difference in the author’s approach to the topic, and craft a
guiding thesis that clues your reader into the specific points you will engage and offer
your position/argument in relation to this topic. Your argument will draw from your close
reading of the texts. Do one or both miss something that you think is crucial to a solution-
based approach? What is that thing missing? Do you find that a solution exists
somewhere between the two texts? Why? What might that solution look like?
