Description/Rationale:
For this assignment, you will identify a specific issue, challenge, or process to examine within your organization. You will review the three levels of culture in your organization as discussed by Schein. Discuss how these are reflected in and affect your case study.
Steps:
Identify a specific dilemma, process or structure (ie. decision-making process, communication flow, hiring process, initiative/program implementation, committee proceedings, project funding, etc.) within the organization you have chosen, preferably one that seems somewhat problematic to you. This will be the focus of your case study.
Provide an overview of the dilemma, process or structure within the organization. Describe how the process works, its purpose, who it affects, how it is funded, who oversees it, etc.
Describe the organizational culture as you understand it and as it relates to the dilemma, process or structure you have chosen to analyze. Identify the levels of culture (artifacts, espoused beliefs and values, basic underlying assumptions) within your organization, and specifically discuss how they relate to your specific case study example.
Reference and cite concepts, definitions, and applications from the course materials.
